HIV Seropositivity in Patients Admitted to Our Hospital: Six Year Evaluation

Aim: Detecting human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected individuals is very important in terms of quality patients’ lives. However, it should be kept mind that there may false positives and tests must confirmed. In this study, was aimed to determine HIV seropositivity our hospital for a period six years contribute the epidemiological data country. Material Methods: The samples came serology laboratory between January 2014 December 2019 were analyzed retrospectively. Anti-HIV antibodies screened total 180,413 by macro-ELISA method (Architect i2000sr, Abbott, USA). Patient sent National HIV/AIDS Confirmation Viral Hepatitis Reference Laboratory verification reagents results. Results: results 178 (0.1%) patients whose blood serum studied with evaluated as reactive. test 102 negative while 76 positive. Patients positive confirmation result account 0.04% all patients. While 67 (88.2%) male 9 (11.8%) female. ages 26-35 36-45 equal highest number new cases detected (n=20, 26.3%). Conclusion: As retrospective evaluation, seropositivity, gender age distributions found compatible country other studies conducted high positivity rate screening tests, again indicates importance tests.
